In Malaysia, the monthly salary for an Indonesian maid is RM1,500, which is the minimum wage set by both the Malaysian and Indonesian governments. Employers are also responsible for providing basic necessities like accommodation 🏠, meals
 

 

1) Minimum Basic Salary
The standard monthly salary for Indonesian maids is RM1,500 .

2) Rest Day and Overtime Pay

  • Maids are entitled to one rest day per week 🛏️.
  • If a maid works on her rest day, she must be paid overtime of RM86.54 for each day worked.

3) Additional Expenses
Employers must also provide the following:

  • Accommodation 🏡
  • Meals 🍴


4) Payment Timeline

  • Employers must pay the maid’s salary by the 7th of the following month, directly into her bank account /transfer.
  • If the maid has not worked a full month, the salary will be paid pro-rata.

Method for Calculating Your Maid's Salary
Step-by-Step Calculation:

  1. Daily Rate = RM1,500 ÷ 26 = RM57.69
  2. Overtime Rate = RM57.69 × 1.5 = RM86.54
  3. Off-Day Pay for 1 Rest Day = RM86.54 × 1 = RM86.54

Total Salary:

  • Base Salary = RM1,500
  • Off-Day Pay = RM86.54
  • Total Salary = RM1,500 + RM86.54 = RM1,586.54


  5)How to Pay Your Maid’s Salary 💵

  1. Cash and Remittance
    Pay directly in cash or use remittance services to send money to her family.
  2. Local Bank Account
    Transfer the salary directly into her Malaysian bank account.
  3. Through a Maid Agency
    The agency handles salary payments if the maid was hired through them.
